Mindfulness Walks

Therapy has moved outdoors! My foray into the forest.. mindfully!

Outdoor therapy has been a thing for a while now, but since covid-19 there's been a real increase in the value of spending time in nature. Its also good to get the exercise!
Outdoor therapy and mindfulness has been a thing for a while now, but since covid-19 there’s been a real increase in the value of spending time in nature. Its also good to get the exercise!

When invited to join a bunch of lovely people for a mindfulness walk I jumped at the opportunity! Deep into the heart of the (Goblin Coombe) forest we went, with our friendly therapist, George, who guided our every step. I didn’t need to worry about the time or the directions, as it was all in the hands of a trained therapist. He helped me and our group to really get in touch with our senses and feelings while experiencing the beauty of nature.

I felt reflective and quite emotional at times during the walk, and appreciated the opportunity to share my thoughts with the group when we sat down for a welcome cup of cocoa, provided by our host. really focusing on ME was something my busy life had made difficult lately. By tuning into my senses, I got to feel a bit like I was free to think my own thoughts and feel my own feelings in a way that my busy life had distracted me from. Usually I would walk with Luna the dog, but on this rare occasion it was my indulgence and mine alone.

I would encourage anyone to try this, even if it is only once. It is affordable, indulgent and available. See George’s Instagram for details of the next walk.
